A Financial Crisis on the Back of a Napkin

Jack Welsh was on MSNBC the other morning talking about the bailout rescue bill recently passed in Congress. He had a good point in talking about the problems getting buy in from the general public. He maintained that what we really needed was a leader who could explain this extremely complex problem in a fairly simple way. I agreed (being an extremely simple guy living in a fairly complex world).

I looked around and finally did find a pretty good whiteboard preso on one aspect of the current financial crisis. I blogged recently about having seen Dan Roam speak at Adaptive Path. This whiteboard explanation is similar to Dan’s approach to breaking down big ideas visually.

Hi, Ted: Thanks for posting this. It’s so helpful to see the explanation drawn out. This is a smart way to communicate the complex picture, and making it much more understandable.

Thanks for reading, Kate. There are a few of these floating out on You Tube; this was one of the better ones. I am in business school right now and we secretly watched this the other day before class! We all felt like we were reading Cliff’s Notes or something.
